Director of Teacher Development Programs - STEM

Position Description: 

The Director of Teacher Development Programs is responsible for the  management, creation and delivery of STEM educational activities for teachers and students that focus  on science and integration of STEM educational learning technologies into classroom instruction. The  individual in this position will expand the Portable Advanced STEM Exploration (PASE) program, which  includes conducting professional development workshops and exploring virtual learning opportunities.  This multi-faceted position will include managing, coordinating, teaching, and assessing program impact,  as well as providing support to other outreach programs and initiatives. 

Position Responsibilities: 

The Director of Teacher Development programs will be responsible for the  following:

 • Developing goals, objectives, evaluation criteria, and timelines for the teacher development programs  and other Center for Outreach programs and/or initiatives;  

• Ensuring that the professional development programs and other initiatives are aligned with mission  and strategic plan, and the goals for the Outreach Center; 

• Collaborating with SVP for Virtual & Outreach and other staff to expand PASE partnerships and the  PASE professional development program; 

• Evaluating outcomes of the professional development programs to ensure program objectives are  being met; 

• Collaborating with SVP for Virtual and Outreach to assess the effectiveness of PASE and other  Outreach programs and/or initiatives; • Developing inquiry-based STEM curriculum and instruction that focuses on STEM content mastery and  the use of science learning technologies; 

• Maintaining a knowledge and understanding of state and national STEM education trends and  standards; 

• Formulating recommendations for the learning technologies used in the PASE program and other  Center for Outreach programs and/or initiatives; 

• Planning and conducting PASE professional development workshops for teachers; 

• Coordinating and providing follow up support for teachers who participate in the professional  development programs; 

• Managing the PASE curriculum and equipment check-out system; 

• Supporting and participating in Outreach Center learning experience; 

• Submitting progress reports and data to the SVP for Virtual & Outreach on a regular basis; and  

• Performing other duties assigned by the SVP for Virtual & Outreach. 

Knowledge: 

An advanced degree in science, mathematics, or a related field. 

Experience: 

A strong  content background in the STEM disciplines and a minimum of three years teaching experience at the  college, advanced high school, middle school, or upper elementary levels, an understanding of diverse  learners, and an enthusiasm for teaching and developing STEM learning experiences; professional  development training experience, experience using science and/or mathematics instructional learning  technologies; experience in STEM program development, coordination, and evaluation, and instructional  design experience.

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; the ability to collaborate with  teachers and administrators; work independently and as a part of a team; handle constructive criticism;  create, plan and deliver professional development programs for STEM teachers and STEM educational  experiences for students; students; coordinate multiple tasks; use instructional learning technologies;  and use word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software proficiently. 

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 annually Full-time
